Lorde, New Zealand’s sensational electro pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the BMO Harris Bradley Center!
Lorde (birth name Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor) was born in Takapuna (Auckland, New Zealand) in 1996 and is a singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her musical style is best described as a blend of electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary usage of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of electronic dance music genres in that songwriting is emphasized over simple danceability), dream pop, art pop (a loosely defined style of pop music - influenced by pop art and postmodernism's integration of high and low culture – that draws from art theories and other forms of art, such as fine art, fashion, cinema, and avant garde literature), and indietronica (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs). She’s had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 6 music videos, 3 extended plays, 8 singles, and her music has also been featured on the soundtrack of the 2014 science fiction adventure film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. She’s received many accolades including two Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, and ten New Zealand Music Awards.
