Corteo, the sensational touring circus brought to you by Cirque du Soleil is coming to the BMO Harris Bradley Center!
Corteo is a contemporary circus show about a clown who watches his own funeral taking place in an atmosphere that resembles a carnival. The show is created at the Cirque du Soleil Studio; a full fledged creation, innovation, and training laboratory. Since 1997, all Cirque du Soleil shows have been created at the studio and this provides a great deal of flexibility for the creative teams. Performers come from a variety of backgrounds, including artistic gymnastics, tumbling, acrosport, swimming, diving, dance, singing, music and, of course, circus arts. According to Jean-François Bouchard (Chief Creative Officer and Creative Guide), "Through creation, Cirque du Soleil tries more than ever to push the limits of the imagination, to amaze and to continually surprise the viewer. Innovation and creativity have always been at the heart of our shows and will continue to transcend our future productions. Corteo's cast consists of 62 artists who bring together the passion of acting with the grace and power of acrobatics. It premiered in Montreal (Canada) in April 2005 and just over a month later, more than 200,000 people had seen it. It broke Cirque's premiere viewing record in Montreal and it went to be seen by more than 5 million people.
